I am Postdoc researcher at the Laboratory for Nuclear Science at MIT. [Full CV]
My current research focuses on the study of the fundamental interaction between nucleons in atomic nuclei. I develop, lead, and analyze experiments at particle accelerators around the world.
I grew up in a small town in Germany and graduated from Marie Curie High School there -- maybe the first sign to later become an experimental nuclear physicist. I performed my undergraduate and graduate studies in physics at the Technical University of Darmstadt (TUDa). Early on, I got interested in basic research of atomic nuclei and their structure and origin. For my BSc and MSc studies I worked on the electron accelerator at TUDa and the GSI-FAIR accelerator facility with the R³B experiment.
For my doctoral research I conducted experiments at the SAMURAI setup at the RIBF/RIKEN in Japan. In 2019 I graduated from TUDa with a work on 29F* and 30F. I was supervised by Tom Aumann and Heiko Scheit, and during extended stays in Japan I joined the groups of Tomohiro Uesaka and Takashi Nakamura.
After, I started a joint postdoc at MIT and Tel Aviv University with Profs. Or Hen and Eli Piasetzky. While I am currently stationed at MIT, I shared time at both places depending on my projects at JINR, Jefferson Lab, or GSI-FAIR.
